Throughout the fall semester, students and faculty within the College of Communication and Design have been hard at work to create iPulse Live, and it is finally here!

iPulse Live is a news show run by students and faculty at Lynn University. The show covers stories within the Lynn community and around the globe.

The creation of iPulse Live has been a journey. It officially began on August 31, 2022, when several students auditioned in the studio. Students had to deliver the news on camera and were judged by a panel of faculty and industry professionals.

On September 7, 2022, an award ceremony was held to thank students for their participation and to celebrate the start of something new. At the ceremony, students received positions as anchors, reporters, and varying positions as crew. Several faculty members gave a speech and described the future of iPulse Live.

Once everyone was assigned their roles, the work began. Students were guided by the leadership of Professor Martin Phillips, the executive producer, Professor Roberto Echevarria, the director and assignment editor, and Professor Jahzeel Ramos, the production supervisor. Students had the opportunity to improve their roles, learn new skills and explore multiple aspects of the production process.

“I take every opportunity I get because I believe in the phrase, ‘life happens when you are busy planning something else.’ My advice is, do not stick to one thing, be open to learning new things and trying different roles,” said Romanshika Singh, an anchor for iPulse Live.

The team spent weeks preparing for the show. They covered stories, designed graphics, learned the operation of new technology, and hosted several meetings to brainstorm and organize the show’s every detail. Each participant received a first-hand experience of what production is like in the real world.

“It is an exciting opportunity. I want to be a professional news anchor or a sportscaster, so participating in this show simulates what I want to do in the future,” said Clifton Haskin, an anchor for iPulse Live.

“The goal is for students to get experience while still in an academic environment so that they can transition seamlessly into the professional world. Communication and media is a demanding industry, but it is consistently growing, so now is the best time to get involved,” said Professor Echevarria, the director and assignment editor of iPulse Live.

iPulse Live is a revolutionary and unique experience at Lynn University that will continue to expand. The first show premiered on October 21, 2022, and has received positive feedback from the Lynn community and beyond.

The show has new releases every other Friday on YouTube at lynnipulse. Don’t forget to stay tuned.
